Extra Dry

Extra Dry is a sparkling-wine sweetness category with more sugar than Brut.

How it works

The name is misleading if you read it as everyday English: it is not the driest category. You may see it on Prosecco, but it is not limited to Prosecco.

How to use this when choosing

If you are choosing between Brut and Extra Dry and want less sweetness, look towards Brut. Both can smell fruity; fruity aromas do not prove that a wine tastes sweet.
